My Caravan – Interview with The Trudgians

At CaSSOA we love finding out about caravanners and motorhomers.

This month, we meet The Trudgians, a caravanning family from Wiltshire. Let's see what Dan Trudgian had to say...

What make/model of caravan do you have?

We have a 2019 Bailey Ridgeway 640 (it’s a dealer special of the Phoenix)

When did you start caravanning?

We bought our first caravan in 2014, although I was caravanning with my parents back in the early 80’s

Where is your favourite place to go?

Surprisingly, just up the road from where we live – Cirencester Park. It is so peaceful and just 15mins away from home – we could be anywhere! We do have favourite places in Devon and Oxfordshire too, but I'm keeping them secret for now ☺

What do you like most about caravanning?

The absolute freedom to do what we want, when we want to. Its perhaps the easiest way to get back to nature, with some creature comforts. We can choose where to go, how long we stay and it’s our home from home.

What do you like least?

Packing up and coming home. I always get really sad when we finally hitch up and head home. But once home we research, plan and book our next adventure so we always have something to look forward to.

What is the piece of kit you can’t do without?

The Cadac. Cooking outside is so liberating no matter the time of year, weather or time of day!

What is the best piece of advice you could give someone thinking about buying a caravan/motorhome?

Don’t procrastinate, just do it. You will soon be uttering the mantra “why didn’t we do this earlier” and don’t be afraid to ask, we all make mistakes, some funnier than others.

You can find The Trudgians on Twitter, You Tube and Facebook. Head over to their website for advice, travel inspiration and kit reviews.
